Navi Mumbai Airport (NMIA) Hotels

Mumbai now has two airports. Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA, code NMI) began commercial operations on 25 December 2025 and started international flights in July 2026. If your ticket says NMI rather than BOM, the hotel calculus is completely different, and this page exists so you do not book a hotel at the wrong airport.

NMIA in brief (as of July 2026)

• Location: Ulwe, Navi Mumbai – roughly 35–40 km from the old airport (BOM), connected via the Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) and the Sion–Panvel Highway.
• Airlines: IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express and Star Air operate domestic routes; international operations began 15 July 2026, with carriers including IndiGo, Air India Express and announced services from Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Etihad and Air Arabia.
• Do not mix up BOM and NMI: transferring between the two airports can take 1.5–2.5 hours by road depending on traffic.

Where to stay near NMIA

Hotel supply immediately around the new airport is still forming, there is not yet an on-airport or walk-to-terminal hotel. The practical options today:

Closest (3–4 km): small independent hotels near Panvel and Ulwe such as Hotel Dakshin Grandeur and similar properties, basic but functional for an early flight.

Established hotel clusters (20–40 minutes): Vashi, CBD Belapur and Kharghar in Navi Mumbai host branded midscale and upscale hotels with reliable standards; Panvel town adds further options near the highway.

BOM or NMI: which airport is “Mumbai”?

Both. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (BOM) remains the main hub with the full hotel ecosystem covered by this guide; NMIA is ramping up as the second airport. Always check your airport code before booking a hotel, a BOM hotel is useless for a 6 am NMI departure.
